Psycho-Educational Assessment

Educational Evaluations: Learning Disabilities, Autism, ADHD, Emotional/Behavioral Disorders, etc. that impact educational progress

A psycho-educational assessment reveals your child’s learning profile. It allows for a deeper understanding of an individual’s cognitive and learning strengths, weaknesses and deficits. Information gleaned from a comprehensive evaluation can assist those working with your child (including you as parent!) to be better informed about how your student is processing, progressing and coping within the classroom. If you are finding yourself wondering about any of the following with your child, an assessment might be worth further exploration:

• Concern about your child’s progress at school

• Attention and concentration difficulties

• Difficulty retaining information

• Anxiety surrounding school or the learning process

• Slow rate of progress, despite receiving interventions and and additional support

• Specific literacy or numeracy difficulties

• Language and communication difficulties

• Challenges with social skills, playtime with others and social interaction

• Atypical/elevated behavioral needs within the school or home settings

• Concern regarding your child’s emotional development

• Concern regarding overall development

• Suspected dyslexia, dyscalculia and/or dysgraphia

Interventions

Resources | Consultation | Advocacy

When you suspect or have identified challenges that impact educational progress for your child, intervention is warranted. READR can help by working with you to develop a course of action and can offer recommendations of supportive services and/or intervention programs to foster growth and development with your child.

If your student has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Section 504 Plan, READR can provide support. The special education process within the public school setting can often be overwhelming and daunting at times. READR is well versed in special education law, procedure and the continuum of services available to individuals with special needs. We are here to help educate families and assist you in understanding your rights as they relate to special education services and supports.
